I played on the grounds and attended picnics after vacation bible school where the Fellowship Hall and Education Building now stand. I attended Christmas Eve services in the old sanctuary and received brown paper bags containing fruit, nuts and candy. I told Ed Neese "little moron" jokes with my brother after Sunday Services. The Fellowship Hall and Education Building were completed just before the organ fire destroyed the sanctuary; all but the steeple were a total loss. Flames were said to be seen by people living near Cedarwood Cemetary, 12 blocks away. We held Sunday services in the new fellowship hall while the new sanctuary was being built. I graduated from NC State University in 1979 and returned to regular worship in 1998. The lady in the picture is my wife, Cheryl. We were married October 20, 1984 We have one daughter, Emily.
